THE SANTA MONICA QUILT GUILD PRESENTED A BIENNIAL QUILT SHOW WHICH INCLUDED:
  • A Display of Quilts from our talented and creative members.
  • The Guild Boutique featuring beautifully crafted items.
  • A Silent Quilt Auction of small sized quilts and wall hangings.
  • A Basket Bonanza featuring themed baskets filled to the brim with fabric, notions, patterns, books and quilting supplies.
  • An Opportunity Quilt drawing. All proceeds from ticket sales support the YWCA Santa Monica/Westside. The beautiful quilt (pictured at left) is called "Song Birds At Midnight" and is based on the "Licorice Allsorts" pattern from Rabbit Factory. Past recipients of our Opportunity Quit proceeds have included: Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Sojourn Services for Battered Women and Their Children, Tuesday's Child, The Wellness Community of Santa Monica, The HeArt Project and Cure Autism Now.
  • The exquisite work of gifted and renowned Featured Quilter, Nadine Kirk. Her award winning whimsical quilts are widely admired. A quilter since 1991, Nadine was born with a sewing needle in her hand. Her main focus is developing designs that interpret seasonal celebrations, Asian designs and natural or whimsical elements using reverse appliqué, piecing and various embellishments. Nadine has been teaching in the South Bay area for a number of years and participated in the California Quilt Rush teacher medley at Road to California. Her work was juried into Road in 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009, at Pacific International (PIQF) in 2004, 2005, 2007, and 2008, the Hoffman Challenge in 2004, at AQS/Paducah in 2006 and 2008, and the Surf's Up! Exhibit at IQF/Long Beach in 2008; and her Halloween Haunts quilt won awards at Road and PIQF in 2007.
