Quilter - Virginia Marshall
For
twenty years Virginia made clothing for her family, and
she thought when she had time she would look into quilting.
She finally realized that if she waited until she had time
it would never happen! She took a class at Crazy Ladies
& Friends in 1992 and made her first quilt, Amish Shadow:
Roman Stripe using bright solids. It was a baby shower gift
for her first grandson. That’s all it took, she was off
and running, a possessed quilter! Virginia has made over
two hundred quilts, many for her family, especially her
twelve grandchildren, gifts for special friends and charities
including quilting for the Methodist Church Quilt Ministry.
Virginia has exhibited quilts several times in the Road
to California and Pacific International Quilt Shows. The
ribbons she has received at the SMQG Shows include President’s
Choice, Quilt Show Chairman's Choice and five Viewers Choice
awards. Virginia is always looking for new patterns to challenge
her skills and she often works on several tops at one time.
Her work includes beautiful hand appliqué, machine
appliqué, reverse appliqué, fusible, machine piecing and
machine quilting. Color plays a very important part in all
of her quilts.
It
was an honor to present Virginia as our Featured Quilter
at
Quilting By the Sea - Celebrations - Quilt Show 2007!
What a treat!
